  70. About The Program
  71. =================
  72.  
  73. 1.  This is a heavy duty Word Processing Program intended for a wide
  74.     variety of word processing and editing tasks. As installed, it is
  75.     ideal for the touch typist - there is no need to take your hands
  76.     off the home row to activate any of the functions.
  77.  
  78. 2.  The novice should have no difficulty in using the program - the
  79.     program is easy to learn, since it comes with context sensitive
  80.     help available at the press of the F1 key. There is also a
  81.     tutorial on the program disk, for novice users to try out the
  82.     various functions.

  84. 3.  The program comes supplied with industry standard Pull Down Menus
  85.     to make learning it even easier. The point and select usage means
  86.     that touch typists do not need to lift their hands from the home
  87.     row. In addition, each command on the pull down menu can
  88.     optionally display the command sequence needed to activate it, so
  89.     novices can learn the commands. The pull down menu is activated by
  90.     the F10 key.

  92. 4.  The keyboard commands are fully configurable from an installation
  93.     program. Many of the options are also configurable from inside the
  94.     program. As supplied, it comes installed with a WordstarTM
  95.     compatible interface, which is the industry standard for editor
  96.     programs. Experienced users do not need to use the pull down
  97.     menus, since all functions of the menu are also available at the
  98.     press of one or two keys.

  100. 5.  The word processor document files are ASCII text files, which
  101.     means that there are no funny embedded characters (unless you use
  102.     the print control sequences) and no hi order bits set on. The
  103.     files are WordstarTM compatible, which means that you can load
  104.     them into any word processor that reads Wordstar files. Apart from
  105.     printer control strings, all formatting commands are by use of dot
  106.     commands (. in column one) or embedded functions ({. }) in the
  107.     text body.
  108.  
  109. 6.  There are up to 8 editing windows, which can look at different
  110.     files or the same file. These files can be loaded from the
  111.     parameter line. Any window can be zoomed to occupy the entire
  112.     screen.
  113.  
  114. 7.  Printer support includes laser printers. It is easy to customise
  115.     the printer drivers, and different ones can be selected from a
  116.     pick list at print time. Printing also occurs in background,
  117.     letting you go on with other word processing tasks.
  118.  
  119. 8.  The program comes with a 100,000 word dictionary and an update
  120.     program that will add or delete words from the dictionary. In
  121.     addition to the main dictionary, you can set up auxiliary
  122.     dictionaries in each directory, containing words specific to
  123.     particular projects. Main dictionaries are available in American,
  124.     Australian and British versions.

  126. 9.  The program can generate indexes and tables of contents. Both
  127.     these files can be customised during the generation by use of
  128.     options embedded in the text. In addition, paragraphs can be
  129.     numbered automatically in several formats.
  130.  
  131. 10. The program comes with macro facilities, the ability to record
  132.     keystrokes, and a number of macro files for additional
  133.     flexibility. In addition, macros can be invoked at program start
  134.     up from the parameter line.
  135.  
  136. 11. Printing, index and table of contents generation can include other
  137.     files, which can in turn include other files, up to 5 levels of
  138.     nesting. This means that even the biggest novel or research paper
  139.     can be easily managed.
  140.  
  141. 12. Automatic reformatting of text is available. This can be turned ON
  142.     and OFF as required. In addition automatic hyphenation is
  143.     available.
  144.  
  145. 13. Tables are supported, as is word wrap and justification of each
  146.     table column independently. Column mode blocks can be defined and
  147.     copied, moved or deleted.
  148.  
  149. 14. Comprehensive monitor support - MONO, CGA, EGA or VGA or HERCULES.

  151. 15. DOS shell is supported to permit use of all DOS commands from
  152.     within the program. Can also free up memory to run large programs.
  153.  
  154. 16. A pop up calculator with 16 functions is included. The calculation
  155.     result can be pasted into your text.

  157. 17. The program comes with support for box and line drawing, with
  158.     these characters available at the press of a key. Load the macro
  159.     files SINGLE.MAC for single lines and DOUBLE.MAC for double lines.
  160.     Additional macro files contain European and Greek characters.

  162. 18. Optional on screen display of fonts is also available. You can
  163.     edit text with this mode operating (unlike wordstar).
  164.  
  165. 19. Printing can have multiple headers and footers, and these can
  166.     include functions such as current date or time.
  167.  
  168. 20. Embedded print functions are supported in both headers / footers
  169.     and within the text body. Print functions can be evaluated on
  170.     screen, and include date and time, file name, revision marking and
  171.     so on.
